The very first time I met Justin, he was airborne. Several feet in the air after blasting off of a snake ramp. He zoomed at break neck, and stomped all of his tricks with gumption. The whole park would hear it. His skateboarding demands your attention. You HAVE to watch him skate. Which is ironic due to his contrastingly mellow and quiet nature. He insists on being low-key, but his skateboarding orders otherwise. Wherever, whenever, you see Justin skate, you can't blink or you'll miss him, and I'm happy to not be exaggerating.

Justin Gilharry is a Canarsie native, born and raised in Brooklyn, so he captures the essence of street skateboarding, while still being able to confidently dabble in transition. He can kickflip stairs, or BS Smith a bowl coping, depending on how he feels. He'll eget techy with a kickflip-underflip after airing up a quarter pipe. He throws his Hardflips on command (literally at any point in time anywhere, probably in his sleep at this point) , with the ease of an Ollie, and will try just about any trick you throw at him. Probably because he's done about all of them. He briefly ponders, then executes. Like that one time did a Roast Beef off the snake over small police cruiser. I remember him saying "I wonder if I can get over that"and him just doing it seconds after, first try. TITANIUM TESTICLES.

But beyond his natural talent for skateboarding, Justin emulates exactly, what skateboarding is and should be for everyone that picks it up. Probably why he's still the go-to guy for all things skateboarding both in and out the park. His explorative and freestyle-creative nature allows him to look at skateboarding slightly different than the rest of us. He's learned hundred of tricks simply because he's always trying new ways to perform tricks, accepting that no one trick is the same as the other, nor will the same trick be performed like the last. He often describes his skateboarding as thoughtless, instinctual, and therapeutic, while still viewing it from the lens of a mad scientist. He combines tricks he may have with others, applies footing from other tricks in new tricks, sometimes tries shit that doesn't even make physical sense. But he understands it doesn't always make sense. All in all, he views skateboarding in a way where it's for him first, and no one else.

Evidently, it shows.

There's no fear, no hesitation, powered by the word "try" since optimism is his only option. And usually, for him, it does. Whether he's doing something super technical or just cruising around, Justin's gonna do it simply because he demands it so.

So, meet Justin, a real powerhouse.
